The Crone's Book of Shadows

PictureBook Of Shadows
A Book of Shadows is a written record of a witch's rituals, spells or magickal workings, herbal remedies and potions, chants, and instructions for a beginner on the path. It may be handed down from a specific tradition or a highly individualized journal also containing dreams, experiences while doing shamanic work, and lessons learned on the spiritual path.

The term “Book of Shadows” is fairly recent and was made popular by Gerald Gardner. During the early days of Wicca, each coven had its own Book of Shadows which were kept secret and revealed only to those who had been initiated. Each member of the circle were required to copy it word for word for their own use.

As witchcraft and Wicca have evolved, most modern witches keep a Book of Shadows for their personal use. As earlier mentioned, it can contain anything that the witch feels is important for his/her spiritual journey. It can remain secret, or it may be shared, depending upon the wishes of its owner.

The Crone keeps her Book of Shadows on a shelf and invites you to look within, if you dare; not because the contents are scary, but you may find that exposure to these thoughts and writings may cause you to ponder the meaning of what IS.
