GRANNYSAGE AT THE CROSSROADS

Our soul's plan

I shall wander on to a concept that I stumbled upon when I first read the book Journey of Souls, Case Studies of Life Between Lives by Dr. Michael Newton. Dr Newton, who died in 2016, was a hypnotherapist who developed spiritual regression techniques that took his clients to their life between lives. He used case study stories in his three books on the subject, all of which I have read. When I first delved into Journey of Souls it resonated so deeply within me that I knew he had touched on a truth that few of us remember. It also re-activated my belief in reincarnation, which I had discarded during the years I followed Catholicism.
“When clients tell me how much they suffered from the actions of family members, my first question to their conscious mind is, "If you had not been exposed to this person as a child, what would you now lack in understanding?" It may take a while, but the answer is in our minds. There are spiritual reasons for our being raised as children around certain kinds of people, just as other people are designated to be near us as adults." “Being with the ‘wrong’ person for a period in your life does not mean that time was wasted. The relationship was probably intended in advance. In fact, you might see this soul again in the spirit world in a different light.”
Michael Newton, Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives (ad)
These two books first introduced me to the concept that we might have planned our life challenges before we were even born. The concept of planning our incarnations in advance was quite puzzling to me, yet made perfect sense at the same time. Three days after I met my first husband, I told my friends I was going to marry him. They laughed at my naiveté. Yet something within me told me this was truth. We were married for 24 years and had three children together. The relationship ended when our spiritual paths parted from one another and I felt I needed to go the another way. I find it comforting to consider that when we meet again as spirits, we will see that our life together was planned before we incarnated and we will once again remember that we are parts of the One Consciousness.

When I discovered the books Your Soul's Plan and Your Soul's Destiny by Robert Schwartz, the messages they contain again resonated deeply with me. He is a hypnotherapist who uses an unconventional and somewhat controversial method to assist people in finding their life's purpose. He uses psychic mediums who can contact spirit guides to learn about something which is called pre-birth planning.

Schwartz states in his biography on Goodreads “Realizing that a knowledge of pre-birth planning would bring great healing to people and allow them to understand the deeper purpose of their life challenges, I have since devoted my life to the study of pre-birth planning.”

“Those who most challenge us do so at our behest. The roles are agreed upon before birth, with the souls who play “tormentor” doing so out of love and often deferring their own learning until another lifetime so we may have the growth experiences we seek.

Ultimately, regardless of the specific challenges they contained, every life blueprint I examined was based on love. Each soul was motivated by a desire to give and receive love freely and unconditionally, even in those instances when the soul had agreed to play a “negative” role to stimulate another’s soul growth.” Robert Schwartz, Your Soul’s Plan: Discovering the Real Meaning of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (ad)

I was immediately drawn to this concept as I have often wondered why my path has wandered as it has done, and have experienced much guilt regarding actions I have done that resulted in hurt to others. I have learned to forgive myself and have come to believe I might have had a contract with these individuals to allow them to experience what they themselves had planned in their pre-birth planning. I cannot know this for sure, but these stories have helped me deal compassionately with challenges in my own life.

His second book, Your Soul's Gift, explores such topics as suicide, rape, miscarriage and abortion, abusive relationships, as well as spiritual awakening and pets.

“Victim consciousness tends to be self-perpetuating. If you believe yourself to be a victim, you vibrate at the frequency of a victim and energetically draw to yourself experiences that will confirm in your mind that you are a victim. One key to breaking this cycle is to release blame, for blame places you vibrationally at the frequency of victim consciousness. We may more easily release blame when we take responsibility for having agreed to our life plans. Such self-responsibility is the fertile ground in which expanded consciousness and self-knowledge blossom.” Robert Schwartz, Your Soul's Gift: The Healing Power of the Life You Planned Before You Were Born (ad)

I ran across this video on You-Tube that answers many of the questions that people ask about why bad things happen in life, why does a child die, why is there war and violence, why are some people hurtful to others? It is a talk between Bob Olsen, author of Answers about the Afterlife, (ad) and Terri Daniel, author of Embracing Death: A New Look at Grief, Gratitude and God.(ad) As I listened to it I was heartened to hear that they shared many of my own beliefs about death and the afterlife.
Summary
As I said before, I have no desire to change anyone's mind about the state of the world, politics, suffering, or challenges of life. These are just resources that have helped me on the spiritual journey I have traveled thus far in life. I have had several experiences of meeting people that I felt an instant attraction to, people that I have felt compelled to help in some way, and people who have seemed to have a overwhelming desire to help me. Here are a few more quotes that I feel express my feelings.

“Those doing soul work, who want the searing truth more than solace or applause, know each other right away.” Rumi

“If you’re going to lose anyone’s support because you want to follow your own heart, then they aren’t the right person to support you through this journey! It’s so important that the people you have around you right now support you for who you are, not because you are doing what they say.”

Whatever is destined not to happen will not happen, try as you may. Whatever is destined to happen will happen, do what you may to prevent it. This is certain. The best course, therefore, is to remain silent. Ramana Maharshi Indian Hindu sage

Addendum

February 17, 2021
I just want to continue to explore the analogy of life being a stage and the people being actors on that stage. As I mentioned, the being we know as Donald Trump has continued his Trickster-like behavior even as he moved from the role of President to the role of a private citizen. The world watched in horror videos of the insurrection on the US Capital building on January 6, 2021 during a trial to impeach Trump for inciting that riot. Many people believe this to be true, while many others state he was not responsible.

Recently I was drawn to a group of beings from across the veil who call themselves Sanaya and are channeled through a medium named Suzanne Giesemann. Every day they send out messages via a website which Suzanne has labeled The Daily Way. Today's message felt like it was meant for me as it reinforced the idea of being actors on a stage.

“This is an interesting twist in the plot.”  Imagine how much more peaceful your life would be if this were your habitual reply when things got … well, interesting.  Yes, you have chosen as a soul to live in the world of duality, and you do that through your story.  Stories have good parts and bad.  Happy times and sad.  For the character who lives through these ups and downs it appears quite challenging, but only if the character forgets they are acting.  For the soul who enacts the story, it is interesting indeed, and always in the back of the mind is the awareness that there are two roles going on at once:  that of the soul and that of the actor in human form.  And always there is the awareness that the human role’s experiences are temporary and will pass.  The cycles of up and down are part and parcel of the play.  It can be no other way, but remembering who is acting brings great peace at the end of the day.

You are so very, very loved."
