Crossroads Chamber
of Curiosities

The Crossroads Chamber of Curiosities can be found on the second floor of the Tower, just above the library. Chambers or cabinets of curiosities became popular during the Renaissance period in Europe and contained a variety of items depending on the interests of the collector. This included many objects that were not yet understood by science and strange artifacts and relics collected from around the world.
The Crossroads Chamber of Curiosities has a unique purpose. As I described on the Home Page, when I was a child I invented a game I called the Crossroads. I arrived at the Crossroads using an acrobatic feat of prowess of falling onto my bed from the bed-frame. (Soon I may have it turned into an Olympic event!)
Once arriving at a point in time-space that I called the Crossroads, I could use it to travel to different lands, worlds, and dimensions where I could embark on a multitude of adventures. With my vivid imagination, boredom just didn't exist.
Science fiction and fantasy stories have often used the concept of portals to travel to unusual places. Alice fell down and rabbit hole and went through a looking glass to get to Wonderland. Dorothy got to Oz by using a tornado. Portals have appeared in many books, movies and TV series as a device to teleport people to other universes or dimensions,
In the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling used common objects that were enchanted to transport anyone who touched it to a specific location. They were called portkeys. This is exactly the concept that I imagined when I touched objects in my room at the Crossroads.
The Chamber of Curiosities in the Tower of Wisdom is used by those who wish to travel farther than regular modes of transportation allow. (Although the Crone at the Crone's Hut probably uses her broom.) I have placed here a variety of items that will transport you to places of interest that I have visited or that have special significance to me. I hope you enjoy your journey.
